What’s Been Going On in LinkedIn Land
Phone support is coming if you’re posh…
LinkedIn’s trialling phone support. Real humans. Actual help. But only if you’re paying. And obviously you need to speak to a bot first.
Helpful? Yes.
Fair? Depends who you ask. If you're on a free plan, it’s bots or bust.
Save profile to PDF? Now behind a paywall
Another useful feature quietly locked up unless you’re on a paid plan. LinkedIn’s nudging more and more toward “if you want it, you’ve gotta pay for it.”
LinkedIn launched another game.
Because… sure they’ve had games for a while, but now there’s a new one. Jem hasn’t touched it and probably never will. But if you’re out here doing brainteasers between posts, let us know if it’s worth the hype.
Or just weird.
Because right now, we’re definitely in the ‘it’s just a bit weird isn’t it’ camp.
Links in posts still mess with your reach
LinkedIn claims they don’t.
We’ve seen otherwise through extensive testing.
So…If you want people to actually see your post, put your links in the comments. Every. Single. Time.
You can now start a newsletter with just one connection
Yep. Not 150. Not even 10. One.
Just you and your nan and you’re off.
Do we think it’s a little wild? Yes.
But it’s also brilliant for anyone starting out.
You don’t need a huge audience to show up, share your thoughts and build credibility. They’re also a great way to get your content pushed out to those second and third degree connections too.
So, If you’ve been waiting for a sign to launch one, this is it.
Collaborative articles. We’re out
Jem had the badge. Gave it a go. But they’re now fully AI-driven and painfully generic. We’re not here for it. If we wanted robotic fluff, we’d just copy-paste ChatGPT and call it a day. So no thanks.
And LinkedIn seems to be going the same way with this, with the badge now FINALLY being fazed out.
Comment limits is coming
To reduce spam, LinkedIn is considering limiting how many comments a person or company page can make. In theory, great. In reality?
Might make actual humans think twice about engaging. That’s a bit worrying considering that’s the key bit when it comes to getting your wares out there.
Profile status updates might be coming
It’s being teased, not launched yet. Could be a way to casually share what you’re working on without having to write a full post.
Might be useful. Might flop. We’ll let you know when we’ve accessed it and tested it.
What’s Been Going On at SocialJems: Jem escaped to Norway (temporarily)
She swapped LinkedIn for lakes, client calls for fjords and meetings for mountains. It wasn’t that cold shockingly but, it was peaceful and absolutely needed.
And yes, she missed the dogs. She always misses the dogs.
The hoodie that saved the trip
Huge thanks to @Krys from @Neutral Carbon for sending Jem the cosiest hoodie on the planet. It came in seriously handy during the colder moments in Norway. If you want to grab one yourself, check it out here: https://reflo.com/
August = weddings. Everywhere
Old school friends, LinkedIn legends, family. Jem’s been hopping from one social event to the next like a slightly chaotic social butterfly in heels.
Sarah A is smashing her bridesmaid duties
She’s living her best spreadsheet life, balancing client work and dress fittings like an absolute pro.
And no wardrobe meltdowns (yet). We can’t wait to see how amazing she looks on the big day.
Freddie’s back and quietly being brilliant
He’s been behind the scenes doing what Freddie does best for a while now, and seen as he outed himself on LinkedIn we thought it was about time we did too!
Freddie helps with things Jem hates like…
💎 Fixing the website
💎 Setting up email campaigns that actually convert
And he still manages to help with a little of the content creation too.
Sarah’s shark is on the move
She’s still supporting her lovely SocialJems clients, but she’s also building her own thing. Sparky Shark Marketing is off the ground and already landing wins. Safe to say we’re proud as hell.
The So Easy partnership is officially on
This one’s a game-changer. You give the platform your website, tone of voice and ideal audience. It gives you actual posts. Not prompts. Actual content.
You tweak. You post. You move on with your life.
Need a demo? Just shout @Jem. It's called So Easy for a reason.
