Local Networking and Charities
We're passionate about networking and charities, which is why we want to share some local networking events based in Yorkshire - where our own Jem is from.

Be Kind Give Time You know that feeling when you're starting a business and you're completely stuck, wondering if you're making the right decisions?
We've all been there! That's exactly why we're passionate supporters of Be Kind Give Time - a brilliant charity that's changing the game for new business owners.
In the spirit of transparency (because that's how we roll), we should mention that our own Jem is one of the board members. But there's quite a story behind how this all came about...
It was 2023 when Wilkos announced its closure, leaving countless dedicated employees, including Zoe Starbuck, facing an uncertain future. That's when our founder, Jem Bevan, reached out with a simple offer – just one hour of her time to help Zoe polish up her LinkedIn profile.
What happened next was rather extraordinary. Zoe took those LinkedIn insights and shared them with her colleagues, helping many secure new roles. While Zoe's own journey eventually led her to join her husband Paul at Starbuck & Associates (where they work their magic helping executives reach their full potential), this experience planted a seed that would grow into something rather special.
And just like that, Be Kind Give Time was born!

The charity was founded by three incredible individuals who believe wholeheartedly in the power of giving time:
- Jem Bevan - Founder of SocialJems
- Paul Starbuck - Executive Leadership Coach
- Zoe Starbuck - The inspiration behind it all
What began as one person helping another has blossomed into both a lasting friendship and a thriving community that's been transforming lives for the past year.
How It Works
The concept is brilliantly simple: we connect growing businesses with generous professionals who donate just one hour of their time each month.
The ripple effect has been remarkable – from that first hour that helped Zoe and her colleagues, to the hundreds of hours our amazing community has now donated to businesses in need of a helping hand.

SEED Jem has never hidden the fact that she struggled with an eating disorder and how it impacted her life. It's a part of her journey that she's open about, which is why this charity is close to her heart.
SEED aims to support those affected by eating disorders along with raising awareness. They're doing incredibly important work, and we want to shine a light on their efforts.
Because eating disorders don't discriminate. They can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background. And the impact goes far beyond just the individual - it touches families, friends, and entire communities.
SEED is out there, providing support, education, and hope. They're working tirelessly to:
- Offer support to those struggling with eating disorders
- Provide resources for families and friends
- Raise awareness to combat stigma and misunderstanding

Local Networking:
The Social Games Networking Event
Exactly what the name suggests. This event is a great way to network in a friendly way.
Who said you can't mix business with pleasure? It's networking without the stiff upper lip, where conversations flow as smoothly as the tea (or coffee, if that's your thing).
Imagine chatting about your latest project over a slice of Victoria sponge or sealing a deal while debating the merits of chocolate vs. lemon drizzle. It's the perfect recipe for building connections without the usual networking stress.

Business Catalyst (Invite only Leeds based)
This networking event is perfect for professionals who want to network and have fun too.
Imagine a bit of bowling whilst talking business! Finding the best way to network is by having fun and building relationships. After the first successful event, the Social Games has now become a permanent feature.

It's networking, but not as you know it. No stuffy conference rooms or awkward small talk here - just good old-fashioned fun with a side of business chat. Because who says you can't strike a deal while you're striking pins?
Remember, networking doesn't have to be all suits and business cards. Sometimes, the best connections are made when you're just being yourself and having a good time.
