So What’s new on LinkedIn…👀
A lot’s happening on the platform, so here’s a breakdown of the latest updates that could affect your visibility, strategy, and content.
Verification… but at what cost?
LinkedIn is pushing hard on account verification.
The intention is good but,the execution still needs work.
Jem had to revert her name to *Jemma Lea Bevan* to complete verification – which raises concerns for anyone not using their legal name professionally, including transgender users who haven’t changed theirs legally.
We understand the importance of verified profiles, but LinkedIn needs to address these issues before making it a non-negotiable.
Old posts in your feed? It’s not a glitch…
You’re seeing older content because LinkedIn is shifting what it prioritises:
Your engagement history
The relationship you have with the poster
Whether they’re seen as credible on the topic
It’s still a bit clunky, but improvements are coming. Your feed should start feeling relevant again soon.
Less vanity, more value
Watch time and likes are taking a back seat. LinkedIn is now focusing on real outcomes – leads, job offers, partnerships. Content that drives action is the winner.
However, out of the posts Jem has created in the past few weeks, the one that performed best, was the one where she said she was glad Charlie was going to his Dads for a week, so we’re not sure how effective this is as of yet.
Hashtags are now optional
The hashtag feed is gone. Keywords in your posts are far more important – especially for visibility outside LinkedIn. Keep your messaging clear and your wording intentional.
LinkedIn Ads = 3,000 characters
If you’re running LinkedIn ads, you now have way more room to write. The description character limit has jumped from 600 to 3,000.
LinkedIn hits 1.2 billion members
Four consecutive years of double-digit growth. If you’re not taking LinkedIn seriously yet, this might be your wake-up call.
Video is still ruling LinkedIn
Video remains one of the fastest ways to build trust and visibility – especially when it’s done *authentically*.
That’s why we’ve partnered with @Ryan from @First Frame to help clients produce content that’s both strategic and real. It’s not about being polished – it’s about being *present*. Your face, your voice, your message.
AI that enhances not replaces.
We’re working behind the scenes on some exciting AI tools designed to help you post faster without losing that human edge.
More on this coming soon… but just know: *we’re using AI to support your voice – not replace it.*
Team Updates, Who is doing what?
Here’s what’s happening across the SocialJems crew this month…
Jem
This month, Jem’s been juggling the business alongside school holidays – a balancing act many of you will relate to! Luckily, Charlie is currently a *little jet setter*, which definitely makes things easier.
Jem also joined Jo Gregory on *The Retained Recruiter Show*, where they discussed how recruiters can better use content to position themselves, win retained business, and show up with purpose on LinkedIn.
And next week she will be heading to Norway for a well deserved break with the family.
Sarah
Sarah Bostock although she is no longer with us full time she, continues to support the team part-time while building her own business, Sparky Shark Marketing so if you’re not following her go give her a follow.
She also recently passed her Driving Test which is an amazing achievement, we’re super proud of her always but especially this month.
Sarah Agana
With all the rain lately, she’s been stuck indoors a lot, the joys of rainy season. So…she’s not been out quite as much as she would have liked. We’ve been doing our best to cheer her up, because honestly, endless grey skies can really take a toll.
And that’s it!
That’s everything covered.
