March News: Trust > Noise, Platform Shifts & Spa-Level Boundaries

Hey you, March already. The year is properly moving now. Motivation is either flying… or hanging on by a thread. And social media is still there, gently tapping you on the shoulder.

So let’s talk about what actually matters right now. No drama. No panic. Just the useful stuff. Grab a brew ☕️

🧠 This Month’s Big Reminder: Visibility Isn’t the Goal

We’ve just published our March blog and it covers something I feel quite strongly about:
Visibility isn’t the goal.

Trust is.

You can post every day. You can chase impressions. You can refresh your analytics like it’s a personality trait. And still not build momentum.

What actually builds business is:

  • Clear positioning
  • Repeated messaging
  • Familiarity
  • Personality
  • Consistency people can rely on

If you haven’t read the blog yet, this one’s worth your time.
It’s honest. It’s practical. And it might calm your nervous system a little.

📲 What’s Actually Changed on Social (The Calm Version)

There’s always noise.

“Algorithm update!”
“Engagement is dead!”
“Post more!”
“Post less!”
“Do a Reel standing on one leg!”

So here’s what’s actually happening across platforms right now.

Instagram: It’s Basically a Search Engine Now
Instagram is leaning further into search behaviour.

Which means:

It’s less about dumping 30 hashtags at the bottom and more about writing captions that clearly explain what you do.

Natural keywords.
Clear descriptions.
Actual sentences.

If someone searched for your service, would your content make it obvious?
If not… small tweaks could make a big difference.

TikTok: Watch Time Is Everything

TikTok is rewarding content people actually stay and watch.

Not just click.
Not just scroll past.

If viewers drop off halfway through, reach drops too.

One clear message.
Strong hook.
Get to the point.

Precision now outperforms waffle.

LinkedIn: It’s Getting Competitive

There’s more content on LinkedIn than ever.

Impressions are softening slightly across the board, not because LinkedIn is broken, but because everyone is posting.

What matters more now?

  • Thoughtful comments
  • Time spent reading
  • Staying consistent in your niche
  • Actually engaging back

Posting and disappearing isn’t enough anymore. Conversation builds momentum.

Facebook: Quietly Performing Well

Facebook hasn’t disappeared.

Recent studies show reach and engagement have seen an uplift again. If your audience is still there, don’t ignore it just because it’s not “trendy”. Effective beats trendy every time.

Threads: Conversation Over Polish

Threads is still developing, but one pattern is clear.

Platforms rewarding conversation are prioritising interaction over overly polished content.
Dialogue > perfection.

🧠 What This Means for You

Across every platform, the pattern is the same:

✔ Clear beats constant
✔ Engagement beats volume
✔ Relevance beats randomness
✔ Structure beats panic

It’s not about doing more. It’s about tightening your message. And if social has felt noisier lately, that’s because it is. But the answer isn’t shouting louder. It’s being clearer.

💙 A Little Behind the Scenes at SocialJems

We are, as always, very real humans over here.

Sarah Agana

Her mum recently had an operation and is thankfully recovering well. Sarah has been juggling work and caring duties like an absolute pro.
And… they’ve booked a trip to Japan in April 🎌
She’s wanted to go for years and I am genuinely dead excited for her.

Sarah Bostock

Has landed herself some interviews for roles she can do alongside supporting us.
We love growth around here. Even when it means sharing our people.

And me…

I went to the spa with the brilliant Bin Sparkes (one of my favourite long-term LinkedIn connections). Yes, I talk about systems and sustainability for a living. But I’m also very capable of pushing too hard and burning myself out.

So this year I’m consciously working on better balance. More spa days are booked in for March.

Because if I’m telling you not to burn out over social media, I need to practise what I preach.

🌿 If March Is About One Thing

Let it be this:

You don’t need to be louder.
You need to be clearer.
You don’t need more posts.
You need more trust.

Social media should support your business.

Not follow you around whispering “you’re behind” every five minutes. And if it has felt heavier than it should recently, that’s not failure. It’s usually just a sign the structure needs adjusting.

You’re not behind.
You’re building properly.

And that’s a very different thing.

As always, thanks for being here.
