December Newsletter

Say goodbye to LinkedIn carousels and profile videos! What can you expect in December?

How is it December already! Sarah still thinks we're in June!

We know this time of year can be a bit hectic, with everyone hustling to wrap up projects and tie a neat bow on 2023. But here's a tip: just because it's December doesn't mean your social media game has to take a holiday break too!

Sure, things might slow down a bit as people gear up for some well-deserved time off, and traditional sales posts might not be the go-to for everyone right now.

People are diving into holiday festivities, enjoying quality time with loved ones, or simply taking a social media detox.

But guess what?

This creates a fantastic opportunity for you to stand out.

With fewer people in the social media arena, your posts have a better chance of standing out. While your competitors may be taking a hiatus, you can keep the momentum going.

Share the fun vibes and let your audience get to know the real you.

Think beyond the sales pitch – showcase the fun side of your brand.

Whether it's the office Secret Santa shenanigans or you treating yourself to a gingerbread hot chocolate to unwind after a busy week, share those moments.

This is the time to humanise your brand, connect on a personal level, and build a stronger rapport with your audience.

Remember, December is about spreading joy and having a good time. So, sprinkle a little holiday magic on your social media.

Engage in fun conversations, share light-hearted content, and, most importantly, have fun yourself!

It's not about neglecting your social accounts; it's about using this festive season as a unique opportunity to boost your online presence.

Let your personality stand out, and who knows, you might just find that your audience appreciates the authentic, holiday spirit you bring to their feeds.

And you don't need to be a fan of Christmas to have fun! Your content doesn't have to be about Christmas, share things that you enjoy!😀

LinkedIn says goodbye to carousels and more

LinkedIn is saying goodbye!👋

No more, carousel posts, profile videos and in-image linking.

Starting from 14th December 2023.

This means any previously posted carousels will be waving goodbye, and those clickable links? Well, they're going to take an early retirement too.

According to LinkedIn, this move is happening due to a bit of a lack of interest among users.

So, from next month onwards, carousels and profile videos will no longer be part of the LinkedIn posting menu.

But don’t worry. If you love carousels, you can always use the PDF workaround until further notice.

As for profile videos and clickable links in images, they joined the LinkedIn party in 2021 and August last year. However, it seems like the dance floor wasn't as packed as expected, so they've gracefully exited the stage.

Oh, and here's a heads-up for planning: all these changes are not just for the present but also for the past. Anything you've posted using these features will be retrospectively bid adieu next month.😲

Now, if you're feeling a bit nostalgic or want to keep a memento of your profile video, LinkedIn is offering to send you a copy. Just drop them a line at contentsupport@linkedIn.com

Before December 11th!

Sending messages through your Company Page 👀

We're buzzed to bring you some exciting news about the latest feature on LinkedIn that is sure to revolutionise the way you connect with your audience.

LinkedIn has recently introduced the ability to send messages through company pages, offering a convenient and efficient way to engage with your followers and potential clients.

Why is this great news for you?

  • Quick and direct communication: With the new messaging feature, you can now reach out to your connections directly through your company page. This eliminates the need to send personal messages or navigate to external websites, it’s making it more accessible and now you can stand out in the DMs!
  • Grow your company page: This feature serves as a fantastic opportunity to boost the visibility and growth of your LinkedIn company page. By engaging with your audience through this channel, you create a more direct and professional avenue for interaction.
  • Connect with your followers: Sending a friendly "hey there" or inquiring about the type of content your followers would like to see more of is a great way to build up your community. Use this feature to build a stronger connection with your audience and tailor your content to meet their preferences.

We’d recommend you explore this exciting new feature and make the most of the opportunities it presents. Stay ahead of the curve, enhance your company's online presence, and build meaningful connections with your audience on LinkedIn.

It’s still in the early stages and not everyone has access to this feature yet, but it’s coming your way soon!

Stand out with your company page!

Jem crashes a spa!

Well, she didn’t crash one. She booked and paid for one. It’s been a long and wild year at SocialJems, and though Jem always adapts…she’s still human. And being a business owner and tackling all these challenges, can take its toll.

So, she took a day off (which Jem struggles to do usually) and headed to the spa for a day of relaxation, bubbles, and treatments.

Sarah hasn’t crashed!

And considering what she’s been doing -that’s a good thing. She’s continuing her driving lessons, travelling down country roads in the lovely British rain. And of course, she’s still hitting the arcades and visiting the seals.

Big things are coming!

We have some new and exciting changes coming to SocialJems in 2023! But you’ll just have to wait until next year to find out about that. 😉

Well, we guess you’ll be hearing from us in January! Already a weird thought!
